A Simple Saturday!!

Few days in life turn out so much exciting than others, considering the fact that we all lead pretty much drab lives. This day had started really early, well really early in the sense it's 12:00 a.m. I was in a wonderful sleep only to be disturbed by a shut-down A/C and my room mates telling me that the power is gone. While trying to catch up my interrupted sleep, my mobile alarm reminded me that I had to go to the airport then. And that's when it dawned to me that I had to send-off a friend who's flying that night to Dubai for a new job. Poor guy, he deserves to be sent-off at least for the sumptous treat he gave in "The Kebab Factory" :-) , if not for the other stuff.

When I called him, he was on the way to the airport. So I took my another just-woken friend with me to the airport. The drive to the airport was pretty fast with the roads deserted being midnight. When we reached the airport, my friend and his family had already arrived and were seriously discussing about something, may be about how they would miss him or what kinda girl to choose for him when he comes back...I donno. The thing is we didn't wanna barge in at that time, so we took a Cappuccino and started sneakily staring at the bright-yellow-attired-rose-lipped-how-she-could-be-so-fresh-this-time-in-the-morning-kinda-looking Jet airways air-hostess in the nearby table. After some time [or by the time the Jet-girl left!! :-) ], we went and spoke to our to-be-NRI friend, wished him good luck, asked to take care of himself, started back and then reached home in another fifteen minutes.

The clock ticked 2:30 a.m when we came back, the power hadn't come even then. But the tiredness put us into sleep. It was 10 a.m in the morning when I woke up. While picking up the morning paper, I heard the fact that the power is not gonna return until evening. This doesn't excite me I thought, spending Saturdays without TV or internet. Anyway I glanced the metro plus to kill some time. There was some pinkish ad about an beauty parlor opening next to my street. What's the hell with these beauty parlours?? a bunch of crazy people trying to make money by smearing some weird creams... Hey wait!! enough of thought provoking!! Its gonna be opened by the South-Indian actress Tamanna!!.

Suddenly Chennai felt lot more blissful and the frequent power cuts didn't matter anymore... being a serious advertisement viewer and to mention the fact that half of the goddamn ads have the gorgeous Tamanna in it, she had unknowingly become a part of my life. She coming anywhere within a kilometer of my reach did excite me... definitely I gotta see her in person, somehow by at least standing outside...
While dreaming about Tamanna was fine, the fact that staying in a second floor flat overlooking an empty terrace during a power cut is not a good idea of a weekend. I woke up my other friends, said it would be better to go to Sathyam and stay in AC rather sweltering here to which they immediately agreed. We started immediately and went to "Saroja" movie, had enough laughs and spent the whole afternoon.
After the movie, I sent my friends home and went to the to-be-opened Beauty parlour. When I reached the parlor, the sun had begun to set. I had a digicam with me and went very casually inside the venue without any invitation or other stuff and said Hi to the people inside. Considering the way I walked into the Hall, they had thought me as some important person. Only I had this shivering inside, knowing that getting caught would rather be very embarrassing. They took me into a small hall which was filled with mostly the owner's family it seemed. To my slightest relief, there were a few reporters and cameramen with whom I could get camouflaged!!. I took a Newspaper lying nearby and pretended to be too busy reading it and luckily nobody bothered me much.
In another fifteen minutes Tamanna came as if in a dream, clad in a shiny red dress. I couldn't believe that she was standing there right before me. She cut the ribbon and officially opened the store. I stood dazed and it took some time to actually follow her into the room where she lit the diya. It was almost mesmerizing to see her in the glow of the lamp. I took a few photographs and then just stood there wishing that moment could prolong forever.
While I stood in the corner watching her, she was surrounded by journalists and TV reporters who were torchering with repetitive questions. She dodged everything very intelligently to my surprise, not bad for a girl who had started acting even before her high school exams. In about ten minutes, all of the reporters had left, yeah, for them seeing her was just about the job but thats not the case for me!!, the hosts were chatting with the guests and Tamanna was sitting alone in a chair looking bored. Well this a chance to grab, I didnt stop for a moment, went and grabbed a chair and sat near her, told her that I'm her greatest fan and about how she is in my desktop, mobile and whatever wallpapers, how I wake up seeing her face, how she's my good-luck-charm, how crazy I'm when it comes to collecting her photos, about the portrait I made for her, how I fell for her in the first ad she had done, looking almost like a goddess and how I had lied to the hosts that I'm a reporter, so that I could see her!!, all the while averting the puzzled look of the shop owner wondering who the hell i am and what i am doing there and the threat of being thrown away for crashing into someone's party. She was happy and I could see from her eyes that she loved the craze I had for her. I promised her that I would bring the portrait I made for her next time and she too promised to meet me. Thats the thing so special about her, no airs about being an actress, so casual and approachable yet still looking dream-girl-like. Then it was time to leave, I took her to the lift and wished her a Happy Diwali. She wished me back and left. Thats it, she's gone, almost like cinderella vanishing at the strike of mid-night.

Its still amazing how I had met her and talked to her so casually while coming actually to take a snap of her standing somewhere too far. Well, life is full of surprises and the moments remind me of Om-Shanti-Om, only that I didn't wanna die in the Interval so that I could find her in the next birth :-)!!! This all might seem stupid to look, but there a few moments in life which you wouldn't wanna forget though it doesn't have any particular significance.  If I could trust Paul Coelho, then this is of something with a hidden reason, only which I couldn't decipher right now.  May be I'll know and write about it in the days to come...
