The Shawshank Redemption
Easily, one of the best movies I had ever seen and guess anyone could probably ever see [Well!!, it also depends on your taste]. Never expected the movie to be of such an impact. Caught it for the first time on a boring Saturday afternoon, had nothing much to do and with nobody around, it seemed as a better idea.
The movie started very simply on a court room sequence, a guy named Andy gets punished for murdering his wife and her secret lover! and gets sent to the Shawshank jail though he pleads innocence. Might sound uninteresting, but here's where you start getting pulled into the movie. The inmates' first day experience just strikes you in face. Fears of loneliness and its impending longevity pounds on them and you!!...[May be, the days of my loneliness in Australia gave a more personal effect!!, anyway but that's the hang of it]. But Andy believes that hope could change ones life. Here Andy meets Red, the kinda guy who have some contacts and get you some stuff from the outside world to the jail through secret ways. Andy gets friend with Red who purely rejects the notion of hope, even warns Andy that hope is a bad thing to have in their situation. The movie then drifts through their intimacy, struggles and how they get institutionalized. Andy with his education gets into the good books of the warden and helps the officials in financial queries. He and his small group of fellas get used to this institutional life with little surprises thrown in.
One fine day, Andy comes to know from a new guy that his wife was killed by some other convict. His attempts to prove his innocence to the warden, goes in vain. Finally he decides to escape the prison and thats the 'Shawshank Redemption'. The efforts made by Andy for his escape shows how much hope he has had on him and on life. Time passes by, Red too gets released and goes to town. Facing the same things as Brook, Red goes to the place mentioned by Andy and finds a letter asking him to join him back in his beach place. Red sets out to see Andy and finally they meet at the Pacific's beaches. Red realizes how hope could change ones life...
